This cabinet was produced by Pastoe in the mid-1950s and was an immediate success. The new bending technique used to shape the legs and drawers was a technological breakthrough. It was part of the new birch collection, inspired by the Scandinavian modern interior movement. Braakman used his international connections to make the major shift in the pastoe portfolio, in keeping with the new and optimistic post-war era.
