Rotterdam-based designer Henk Fillekes (1918–1983) played a pivotal role in the modernization of Dutch lighting design. After the Second World War, he and Johan van Wierst took over the Lichtornamenten Atelier Artiforte. Through collaborations with leading designers such as Kho Liang Ie and Johan Niegeman, he firmly established Artiforte within the modern design movement.&nbsp;

Fillekes’ most celebrated creation is the iconic Magneto floor lamp from the 1950s. Its signature feature is the magnetic ball mounted on the elegant tripod base, which allows the arm and shade to be effortlessly rotated into any desired position. Inspired by the Bauhaus movement, the lamp’s minimalist aesthetic reflects Fillekes’ visionary talent for uniting form and function in a design that is both practical and refined.&nbsp;
